ARC August

ARC August Update: Week Three (and a Giveaway!)

arc-augustI can’t believe we’re already heading into the last full week of August! This month has flown by – though part of that could have something to do with all the reading I’ve done. My original goal for the month was eight ARCs; I assumed an average of two books a week would be my limit. However, I’ve managed to maintain an average of three a week instead. I’ve already finished nine ARCs and am currently reading two more, which I should definitely finish by the end of the week. This was definitely a much more successful venture than I had anticipated and I’m so glad I decided to participate!

Read so far…

ARCs read 8-24-15

Shattered Blue by Lauren Bird Horowitz – This was a really quick read and the review should be posted on Wednesday.

The Thing About the Jellyfish by Ali Benjamin – My review for this should be posted by Thursday.

The Lost Girl by R.L. Stine – I plan to have a review of this posted next week.

Currently Reading

ARCs Next 8-17-15

After Alice by Gregory Maguire – I just started this book yesterday.

Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen – I’m already halfway through this one.

On Deck:

There’s only one more week of the month left, so I’m not sure I’ll get to all of these as part of ARC August, but they’ll still be at the top of my reading list in September.

ARCS-September

The Star of Love and Techno by Anthony Marra – I’m not at all familiar with this author, but the book sounded really interesting.

The Gap of Time by Jeanette Winterson – This is the first in a series of modernized retellings of Sharkespeare by various author. The Gap of Time is based on The Winter’s Tale.

The Witches by Stacy Schiff – This is a nonfiction book about the Salem Witch Trials, which I’m very excited to read and learn more about my 8x-Great-Grandmother, Mary Esty.

Giveaway:

I went and hit publish without detailing my giveaway! Oops!

We Will Never Be ApartSince today is my birthday, and I had two copies of We’ll Never Never Be Apart, I had planned to do a giveaway today for one of those ARCs. However, I didn’t love the book as much as I had wanted to, therefore I feel like I can’t in good conscience hype the book for a traditional giveaway. It was an interesting story, and I liked the characters, there was just one big flaw that kept me from really loving it (I’ll have my review posted in the middle of September for those who are curious).

So, instead I’m just going to give away both of the ARCs, one copy each to the first two people who comment on this post and let me know they’re interested in giving the book a chance. I feel like that is a better and more honest way to do this give away. So, if you’re curious about the book and want to try it, leave me a comment and I’ll get in touch with you about shipping info. Maybe you’ll enjoy the book more than I did!

All ARCs were received in exchange for a fair and honest review. ARC August is hosted by Read.Sleep.Repeat.
